john portman story

John Portman’s architecture is frozen science fiction and the Hyatt Regency at the Embarcadero Center, San Francisco, is one of the best examples of it. The whole thing conjures up visions of the exhilarating but sanitized world 60s-era planners were dreaming of, but never quite pulled off.
