After wowing diners in Singapore and Taiwan, the Octaphilosophy chef moves on to the Philippines and Hong Kong

The brilliant Taiwanese chef André Chiang combines eight elements into his cuisine: salt, texture, memory, pure, terroir, south, artisan and unique. In honour of the chef’s self-described Octaphilosophy, here are eight recent highlights from his current book tour.

André meets the Filipino press After working his way through the culinary hotspots of Taiwan and Singapore, André arrived in the Filipino capital towards the beginning of last week, to conducted interviews with journalists from the country's top national daily newspapers. The chef also spoke at a press conference for 20 writers and editors from Filipino publications ranging from Esquire Philippines to Yummy food magazine, spreading his Octaphilosophy doctrine.

CNN and selfies A crew from CNN Philippines also shadowed the chef, for a segment airing on the network's top morning show. Later Chiang snapped selfies with local fans and signed several dozen copies of his book at the city's top retailer, Fully Booked.

Nespresso nights  The chef was also guest of honor at Nespresso Nightcap, a special event for food and beverage industry insiders. All diners took home a copy of Octaphilosophy, courtesy of the coffee company.

Chef time Chaing also got the chance to meet some of the Philippines’ greatest culinary talents too. André introduced Octaphilosophy to more than 150 diners through book-as-ticket dinners at World's 50 Best-ranked restaurant, Gallery VASK, run by José Luis 'Chele' González. He also dined at a gala lunch in his honor by Margarita Fores, recently named number one Female Chef by Asia's 50 Best; all 60 guests received a copy of the book.

André and Ekkebus Flying on over to Hong Kong last weekend, André wowed audiences with an Octaphilosophy-inspired 14-course collaboration with fellow chef Richard Ekkebus at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental.

Octaphilosophy for the tastemakers At a gathering of 15 of the city's top bloggers and influencers, André explained his eight-part theory and its applications to creative disciplines beyond cooking.

Next stop New York The World's 50 Best Restaurant awards take place in NYC later in the this month. André be in attendance at Cipriani, Wall Street in Manhattan on Monday 13th June, when the 2016 list is revealed.
