Viktor, Rolf & Alexandre stun Paris
Fashion designers and stars of our Cover Cover book team up with Alex de Betak for an Immaculate Collection
Fresh from launching their new book Cover Cover at Artcurial, the French auction house's headquarters in Hôtel Marcel Dassault, in Paris on Monday evening, fashion designers Viktor&Rolf followed up with their FW '18 show, The Immaculate Collection, on Wednesday evening.
For the show, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren revisited 25 looks to mark their quarter century together as designer artists. But in scrambling the chronology of the clothes shown, they made it clear this was not about nostalgia.
"In one fell swoop - or more accurately, a few months of studio workmanship - they merged opposing moods, ever-shifting volumes, and conceptual messaging into a coherent and irrefutably impressive creative statement," said Vogue.com
Here are some photos from the event which was produced and designed by fellow Phaidon author and runway legend Alexandre De Betak and his team at Bureau Betak.
If you're intrigued, take a look at their new book Viktor&Rolf Cover Cover here. Entirely made up of covers, each of which relates to a specific show, with images, sketches, and quotes showcasing that particular collection, Irma Boom's design elevates bookmaking to an entirely new level while referencing the dramatic layers that feature in the designers' work. It's the perfect complement to Viktor&Rolf's work.
