Untitled (Mask), 2020 is a new signed limited edition silkscreen print by visionary contemporary artist Adam Pendleton. Each print from the exclusive edition of 50 is enclosed in a bespoke portfolio, and accompanied by a special hardback edition of Adam Pendleton’s new monograph published in the Phaidon Contemporary Artists Series.

This compelling image represents one part of a four-part work by Pendleton named Untitled (Mask), 2019. For this series of Mylar works, Pendleton creates collages from material found in books and from his own writings and drawings, silk-screening them onto sheets of transparent film. Untitled (Mask) features a photocopied image of a mask from the Dan people of Liberia. Translated onto a clear substrate and layered with repetitive markings, the mask, several times removed from its source, hovers between transparency and opacity.

Pendleton’s original and powerful body of work has been described as the embodiment of a new era. His multifaceted projects, which include painting, collage, film, and publishing,  re-contextualize historical and theoretical positions on abstraction, blackness, and the avant-garde. Working predominantly in black-and-white, Pendleton often creates ‘total works’  that envelop viewers and push the limits of contemporary discourse.

Adam Pendleton is currently represented by PACE in New York, London, and Hong Kong; David Kordansky in Los Angeles; Max Hetzler in Berlin; Pedro Cera in Lisbon; and Eva Presenhuber in Zurich.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
