Wallpaper* City Guide launches in Tel Aviv
The Norman hotel provided a swanky White City backdrop to celebrate the publication of the new guide
One of 30 stylish new destinations in the Tel Aviv update, The Norman is a refurbishment of a 1920s eclectic-style mansion at the heart of the UNESCO-listed White City quarter.
Designers, architects and artists featured in the guide, including Yoav Messer, who was responsible for the hotel’s transformation, Guy Yanai, Naama Hofman, Orli Tesler and Itamar Mendelovitch, mingled in the intimate back yard.
The party was organised in collaboration with Xhibition and sponsored by Grey Goose vodka, and free-flowing negronis and Moscow mules relieved the midsummer night’s heat, while rising star DJ Yogo provided a deep house and disco soundtrack.
Also in attendance were creatives Nurit Koniak, Erez Ella, Teddy Cohen, Assaf Reeb, Naomi Maaravi, Natalie Tal, Kaie Bird and, of course, the local contributors to the Wallpaper* City Guide – author Gili Merin, photographer Sivan Askayo and insider Meital Weinberg Adar.
First published in 2007, the third edition of the Tel Aviv guide features a brand-new Art & Design chapter, now introduced across the series. In Israel’s cultural capital, it champions galleries such as Alon Segev, Dvir, the CCA and MoBY, and design visionaries like Itay Ohaly.
The new edition also features the usual raft of happening bars, restaurants, fashion stores and boutique hotels. Buy it here.
