A stylish guide to mixing cocktails from one of Italy’s most storied luxury hotels, with recipes for 60 of its signature drinks adapted for home bartenders around the globe

Nestled into the rugged Italian coastline of Porto Ercole, Hotel Il Pellicano is the epitome of La Dolce Vita. This timeless hotel hideaway, established in 1965, is synonymous with sophisticated escapism for in-the-know artists, actors, musicians, designers, and discerning travelers. At the hotel’s heart sits Bar All’Aperto, the iconic cocktail bar where glamorous guests have lounged, cocktail in hand, for more than six decades.

Cocktails at Hotel Il Pellicano offers a taste of the bar’s understated luxury without ever leaving home. Discover sixty signature recipes, including Hotel Il Pellicano specials such as the Teller, the Pelican Martini, and the Patsy Spritzer – drinks so beloved that they’ve become part of the hotel’s identity – alongside classic cocktails, such as the Cosmopolitan and the Mary Pickford, with the distinct Pellicano touch.

Cocktail enthusiasts, everyday mixologists, and gracious hosts will also discover tips on building one’s own Pellicano-style bar, insights into various spirits and ingredients, and the fascinating stories behind each drink’s creation, collectively tracing the hotel’s glittering past while celebrating its present-day renown.

Gorgeously illustrated with eye-catching images of the cocktails and the hotel itself, as well as archival photos from Hotel Il Pellicano’s early years, this is far more than a recipe book: it’s the tale of one of Italy’s most iconic hotels, told through the drinks that have defined it for 60 years.
