Presenting Digital Blue, 2025, a groundbreaking moving-image limited edition by Nina Chanel Abney. Produced in collaboration with Infinite Objects, the leading platform for creating displayable digital art, Digital Blue is Artspace’s first-ever NFT release.

Digital Blue comprises a limited edition of 50 video artworks, each presented on a 16:9 screen encased in a sleek 10-inch acrylic frame. Inspired by Abney’s painting entitled Blue, 2021, this looping video edition brings to life Abney’s signature patterns, figures, and iconography.

'The NFT format expands the possibilities of painting. It allows the work to move, to hold breath, to shift through time, qualities that static images only imply. I’m interested in how digital space changes the life of an image: how it circulates, how it’s owned, and how it connects with audiences beyond institutional frameworks.' - Nina Chanel Abney

Each signed and numbered edition comes with a custom acrylic stand, Certificate of Authenticity, and a unique QR code to claim the artist-authenticated NFT. The limited edition also includes a signed copy of Nina Chanel Abney, the artist’s highly anticipated debut monograph from Monacelli, which surveys over 300 works and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the artist’s ever-expanding creative process.

Abney is widely recognized as one of the most dynamic voices in contemporary American art, with work held in major public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The launch of Digital Blue follows Abney’s recent solo exhibition Now What? Or What Else? at Perrotin Gallery, Paris, on view from September 6 through October 11, 2025.

Combining representation and abstraction, Nina Chanel Abney’s paintings capture the frenetic pace of contemporary culture. Broaching subjects as diverse as race, celebrity, religion, politics, sex, and art history, her works eschew linear storytelling in lieu of disjointed narratives. Through a bracing use of color and unapologetic scale, Abney’s canvases propose a new type of history painting.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
