"Interdit was shot in Fréjus on the Provençal coast of the Cí´te d'Azur. I was struck by this abandoned pier to nowhere, which is located on an otherwise pristine beach.

The photograph is part of a project called Out of Place that I am working on in the south of France. I think all of my work—photos, paintings, and drawings—address the same issue of transformation in the face of global trends." —Julie Graham

In her compositions, Julie Graham captured man-made environments unoccupied by humans, yet shows evidence of their presence. They give center stage to the places themselves: the ways in which juxtapositions of light, form, texture, and color lend an unexpected beauty, an air of mystery, and an absolute quiet to temporarily uninhabited spaces. The less they reveal, the more access they provide to the viewer, allowing him or her to enter into the spaces she captures and navigate them alone.

Graham's work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions at venues such as Kingston Gallery in Boston, MA, where she is represented, and has been included in group exhibitions at Ruth Bachofner Gallery in Los Angeles, CA, and Frederick Taylor Gallery in New York, NY, among others. In 2007, her work was featured at the Kinkead Contemporary Gallery booth at the Aqua Art Miami art fair. Graham was on the painting faculty at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and taught at Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI, and the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, as well as at numerous international venues. The artist passed away in 2018.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
