Phaidon, Artspace, and The Kitchen are pleased to present In the palm of my hand, a new limited-edition print by American artist and Oscar-nominated filmmaker, and The Kitchen’s 2026 Gala Honoree, Garrett Bradley. Working across film, photography, and installation, Bradley’s practice often centers on gesture, movement, and the passage of time. Bradley’s new edition distills her practice into an intimate, collectible form.

In the palm of my hand reflects this sensibility, capturing a quiet, fleeting moment that slowly comes into focus the longer you spend with it. The edition captures Bradley’s cinematic language in still form, where light, tension, and atmosphere are the focus.

“Films are made up of still images, and I’ve always thought that if I could pause a film I’ve made, and that moment could adequately articulate an entire idea, I would have accomplished what I wanted. A static image is also time based and can shift and grow for as long as you’re willing to stay with it.”

Proceeds from the sale of the edition will support The Kitchen’s artistic program and its mission dedicated to offering experimental artists opportunities to create and present new work within, and across, the disciplines of dance, film, literature, music, theater, video, and visual art.

Bradley notes, “The Kitchen has long been an essential space for artists imagining new visual languages and forms of gathering and I am honored to contribute this edition in support of an institution committed to artistic experimentation and risk at a time that is especially vital.”

Garrett Bradley (b. 1986, New York, NY) received a BA from Smith College, Northampton, MA, USA (2007), and an MFA from UCLA, Los Angeles, CA, USA (2012). She has been recognized with major awards and fellowships including the Prix de Rome from the American Academy in Rome (2019), and was a resident at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (2015). In 2020, her debut feature-length documentary Time received international acclaim, garnering over fifty nominations—including an Academy Award nomination—and securing twenty wins, among them a Peabody Award and Best Director in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, where she became the first Black woman to receive the honor. Subsequent recognition has included the Arts and Letters Award for Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters (2022), the Eye Art & Film Prize (2023), a United Artists Fellowship (2024), a Guggenheim Fellowship (2024), and a MacArthur Fellowship (2025), recognizing her as a recipient of the MacArthur “Genius” Award.

Founded in 1971 as an artist-driven collective, The Kitchen today reaffirms and expands upon its originating vision as a dynamic cultural institution that centers artists, prioritizes people, and puts process first. Programming in a kunsthalle model that brings together live performances, exhibition-making, and public programming under one roof, The Kitchen empowers its audiences and communities to think creatively and radically about what it means to shape a multivalent and sustainable future in art. The Kitchen seeks to cultivate and hold space for wild thought, risky play, and innovative and experimental making, encouraging artists and cultural workers alike to defy boundaries and sending them into the world to remake art history and catalyze creative change.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
