Phaidon and Artspace are proud to present a new limited edition photographic print by contemporary British photographer and artist Nick Waplington.

Untitled (Superman and Rabbit), 1989 (2023) is a limited-edition color print taken from Waplington’s influential Living Room series, shot between 1986–1990 on the Broxtowe housing estate in Nottingham, England, where his grandfather lived. Set against a backdrop of economic downturn within Thatcher’s Britain, the project documented the daily lives of several families, focusing on unguarded moments of joy and human interaction.

This limited edition print comes with a signed copy of Nick Waplington: Comprehensive, which is the most extensive survey to date on the prolific British photographer and artist and his body of work. Consolidating more than 600 illustrations across 400 pages, this outstanding volume offers an indelible glimpse into Waplington’s creative ethos, one steadfastly rooted within the complex and far-reaching aspects of our lived realities.

The print is housed within a tulip folder that is part of the endpapers of Nick Waplington: Comprehensive.

Nick Waplington is a British artist living between London and New York. He has published extensively throughout his career, including Safety in Numbers (1995), Truth or Consequences (Phaidon, 2001), Working Process (2013), a collaboration with Alexander McQueen, Hackney Riviera (2019), and Anaglypta (2020). Waplington has exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, and in 2015, was the first living British artist to have a solo photographic exhibition in the main galleries of Tate Britain, London.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
