Phaidon and Artspace are proud to present a new limited edition screenprint by world-renowned contemporary artist KAWS, released in tandem with the artist’s new Contemporary Artist Series book, encapsulating the most comprehensive study on one of contemporary art's dominant, influential forces.

Entitled TIDE, the limited edition of 100 silkscreen prints is based on a line drawing of the artist’s original and iconic painting TIDE and is sold together with a hardcover edition of the new CAS book. TIDE depicts one of the artist’s signature COMPANION subjects floating in the ocean, illuminated by moonlight. The symphony of blues is vividly rendered through ten layers of silkscreen and ultraviolet ink. Like much of the artist’s work, the image is both playful and subversive, evoking wide-ranging emotions from joy and tranquility to alienation and loneliness.

KAWS’s far-reaching practice both critiques and embraces the challenges of a popular culture dominated by consumerism. With his paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, and product designs, KAWS is one of the most beloved contemporary multi-media artists, resonating with audiences far beyond museum and gallery spaces and connecting with viewers of all ages around the world. He has collaborated with prominent international brands, including Uniqlo, Comme des Garçons, Supreme, Nike, Dior, sacai, and General Mills.

KAWS is a New York-based artist and designer and one of the most popular living artists, known for his paintings, prints, sculptures, and limited-edition toys. His extensive list of projects in renowned institutions includes solo exhibitions at The Mori Arts Center Gallery, The Brooklyn Museum, The National Gallery of Victoria, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Longside Gallery, Centro de Arte Contemporáneo, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art.

All our frames are manufactured in the USA, using eco-friendly and sustainably sourced engineered hardwood for durability and a uniform finish that is free of defects. Frames are available in Black or White Satin and Honey Pecan.

All prints are hinged to a conservation quality, acid-free and lignin-free Alpha Cellulose matboard, using an acid-free linen tape. The mat's surface paper is fade and bleed resistant and is attached to a conservation quality foam-core mounting board that will keep the work safe from deterioration over time. Artworks with a deckled or decorative edges will be floated on the matboard, with acrylic spacers to separate the art from the glazing. All mounting is fully reversible, without any potential damage to the art.

All of our frames come with picture quality .090 mm plexiglass, which blocks 66% of UV to prevent color fading from exposure to light, keeping your art protected for years to come. It is now considered the industry standard for artists, museums and galleries throughout the world.
