Social Media Manager

Location: New York

Phaidon seeks a Social Media Manager to oversee our brand presence across social platforms. The ideal candidate is an experienced, creative digital marketing expert with a proven track record of impactful campaigns, innovative content, and audience growth.

Reporting to our Global Director of Digital Marketing, the Social Media Manager will play a key role in shaping our consumer-facing voice on social media and across digital channels. This position is based in our New York office and collaborates with colleagues around the world, all of whom share a passion for the arts and contemporary culture.

This is a hybrid working position with in-office responsibilities. The salary for this position is $60,000-65,000.

Your background:

  • 4-6 years of experience building and implementing brand social media strategy, including day-to-day account management, execution of product launches, and consistent audience growth

Assistant or Associate Publicity Director (New York City, Hybrid)

Phaidon & Monacelli seeks a full-time Assistant or Associate Publicity Director based in New York City to lead communications for art, design, culinary, interiors, and lifestyle categories. The candidate will work closely with the VP of Global Marketing and Publicity to shape and execute high-impact global PR campaigns, while leading a team of 3-4 members of the publicity team.

The successful candidate will be a strategic, proactive communicator with deep media relationships and a passion for the creative arts. This is an exciting opportunity to take on an elevated role at the world's premier publisher of art, design, and culture — working alongside the most influential artists, designers, and architects working today.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead creative publicity campaigns for approximately 8 titles per season across multiple categories
  • Manage a team of 3-4 publicists, including 2 direct reports
  • Drive high-level media strategy and pitch national, local, and trade outlets for reviews, features, and interviews across print, broadcast, and digital
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, lasting relationships with top-tier press contacts across traditional and new media
  • Serve as a main point of contact for UK press colleagues, ensuring cohesive and well-coordinated global campaigns
  • Implement and maintain a system for tracking and reporting publicity hits, clips, and press quotes
  • Write and edit press materials, formatted in InDesign
  • Use Muck Rack to build, maintain, and develop media lists
  • Represent Phaidon at author events, including nights and weekends as needed

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in book publicity, with a proven track record of securing high-profile media coverage
  • Experience managing junior publicists
  • Established relationships with national media contacts across print, digital, and broadcast
  • Previous experience pitching art, cookbooks, interiors, and lifestyle titles strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a large, varied list of tasks effectively under deadline in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Muck Rack and InDesign
  • Must be based in the New York City area

Salary Range: $85,000 – $90,000

Editor, Monacelli (a Phaidon Global Company)

Location: New York

We are seeking a full-time Editor to join our team in New York to edit new books with a focus on the following categories: landscapes & gardens, architecture, design, and some general interest. The role will involve both originating new books and editing books acquired by the publisher. An editor should be experienced with identifying authors and trends, formulating proposals, creating P&L’s, finalizing contracts, and playing a hands-on role from idea conception to design, editing, and final publication. All editors work collaboratively with the publisher, production, marketing, and sales to ensure a smooth and seamless publishing process. This position will require extensive interaction with our authors, designers, and internal teams, and will require superb communication skills. The candidate is highly creative, detail-oriented, passionate about the subject matter, and has previous experience and a proven track record in illustrated book publishing.

Key objectives:

  • Editing approximately 8 books per year from inception to final files
  • Identify talent/market trends and can connect with potential authors
  • Develop book proposals and bring ideas from concept to approved outcomes
  • Finalize agreements with a clear understanding of the business and financial structure of a book deal
  • Manage the editorial process from beginning to end with an emphasis on delivering new and distinctive packages
  • Build design concepts for each book and work with designers to publish compelling and commercial books
  • Work with global sales, marketing, and PR to represent new titles and present these at sales conferences and other venues

Skills and experience required:

  • Book editing experience, particularly in illustrated/art books; the most qualified candidates will have a proven track record of acquiring and editing successful books in the desired categories
  • A background and/or proven interest in Phaidon and Monacelli’s core publishing categories: art, architecture, design, landscape/gardens, and interiors
  • Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style; experience in copy editing and proofreading

Compensation

The compensation for this full-time position, dependent on experience level, is $65,000 to $75,000. Benefits include excellent medical, dental, vision, PTO, and more. This job is based in New York City, and you are expected to work from our lower Manhattan office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and can optionally work from home on Monday and Friday.
