Via 57 West, New York - BIG

Drone targets BIG's first New York building

Drone footage captures the scale and unusual beauty of Bjarke Engels' Via 57 West as it rises above Manhattan

The architecture practice that gave us the first selfie in an architecture CGI is now the first to commission a film of one of its new buildings from a drone. As you might expect, the footage, shot above and around BIG’s Via 57 West residential building, currently rising above Manhattan, is dramatic.

The 467 feet high, tetrahedron-shaped building is all but complete and the drone footage captures the finishing work being undertaken on its facades. It’s Bjarke Ingels’ first building in North America and the video, shot by Darkhorse, perfectly captures the unusual layout of the building, part skyscraper and part courtyard building according to Ingels. The building, which will house a basketball court, golf simulator, library and screening room, opens next year. Residents will be able to reserve living rooms for entertaining that feature fireplaces, chef's kitchens, dining rooms and large terraces. Watch the video below.
