About the book
This is your first book of art. Grab it, hold it, flip through the pages, turn it upside down… there’s no limit to what you can make with it.

What can you see? Scribbles and splodges, shapes and letters, signs and lines? Now you’re the artist: mix and match the patterns and paintings by simply turning the pages. Use your creativity and your imagination, and most importantly, have fun! Find out what you can create with this book.

Do you prefer red, green or blue? On which pages can you find them? Can you spot rain, sweets, confetti, a race track, a cloud, a sun? Choose a line (I like the purple one. What about you?). Can you follow it with your finger all around the page – and onto the next? Can you see the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? Can you mix them up? Can you find brush strokes and squiggles, big dots and tiny dots? Which pattern would you choose for your house, your car, your boat? Can you put a rainbow above a field of flowers? Or coming out of the sea? What can you make from the letters of the alphabet? People? Animals? Can you create a hidden message out of letters? Find the pattern on the top that you like best. Now which pattern on the bottom do you think matches it best? The first book of art for pre-school children by Hervé Tullet.
