Don't Quit You Day Job

Opening hours:
Tuesday - Saturday: 11 am - 6 pm and by appointment

While we eloquently discuss the artist, admiring and critiquing their work, it's all too easy to overlook the people who bring their work into public view, the gallery owners. Opening this evening in New York, Don't Quit Your Day Job is an exhibition that remedies this by displaying photographs taken by gallery owners (7 July – 19 August).

New York gallery Hasted Kraeutler hosts the exhibition, celebrating the careers and contributions that gallery-owning colleagues have made to the arts, whilst playfully indulging in 'what might have been'. Many of the participants began their careers creating photographs, or pursuing their hobby alongside their day job. Each contributor's story is different, but without the gallery owners and their spaces, there would be no exhibitions. So, if you value the role they play in making art accessible, think 'don't quit your day job!' and enjoy the work on show.

While some of the photographs are on loan for the exhibition, a number will be on sale with proceeds donated to Lotus House Women's Shelter.
