The Bouroullec Brothers: album
Highlights from the young design duo's first French solo exhibition at arc en rêve centre d'architecture, Bordeaux
For the latest cutting edge furniture design and the most elegant and innovative products, there is only one place to be this week: Salone Internazionale del Mobile, otherwise known at the International Furniture Fair of Milan, the world's biggest premier showcase of the crème de la crème of the international furniture industry (12 - 17 April).
Combining the effortless elegance and high quality we all expect from Italian design, with a fine balance between traditional and contemporary products, Salone - now celebrating its 50th anniversary - is the yearly site of pilgrimage for furniture designers, manufacturers and enthusiasts alike.
Last year's Salone attracted over 5,000 journalists and a staggering 250,000 visitors from around the world. And this year, more than 1,000 Italian and 300 foreign companies will take to Milan's Fiera Milano for an exciting week of events, exhibitions and presentations of new designs, ranging from rocking chairs and convertible beds to cocktail cabinets and garden furniture.
Highlights of this year's Salone include the new minimalist Baguette and Osso chairs from renowned French designer duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the global launch of Baccarat's Highlights series of lighting, and Wallpaper* Handmade, an exhibition showcasing one-off collaborations between renowned designers and manufacturers including Konstantin Grcic, Brioni and Mario Bellini.
