London's Fashion in Film Festival is back for its third edition this December with a rich programme of rare and recently-restored films exploring the use of costume in American and European cinema.

Subtitled Birds of Paradise, the festival focuses on the opulent pictures of the silent era, from Das Spielzeug von Paris' Red Heels (1925) and Der Goldene Schmetterling's Golden Butterfly (1928) to underground films from the 1940s-1970s by the likes of Kenneth Anger, Jack Smith, José Rodriguez-Soltero, Steven Arnold and James Bidgood.

A series of special projects are also running in conjunction with the festival, including a Fashion in Film Workshop for 16-18 year olds and Hemline: the Moving Screen, a newly commissioned installation by the award-winning artist collective Jason Bruges Studio which is currently on show at Somerset House.
