More than 100 original designs by over 70 local designers and artists are currently on show as part of Tea Ware by Hong Kong Potters the latest show at the city's Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware.

Submitted for a competition by professionals as well as amateurs, the collection ranges from the traditional to the surreal (see Anissa Fung Siu-Han's 'cardboard' Handle with care! service).

First prize in the competition went to Tsang Cheug-Shing, a ceramic art tutor and product designer already known for wonderfully imaginative works such as Coffee Kiss (currently displayed at Hong Kong Airport) for the stationary-inspired service, To the Museum of Tea Ware

Speaking of the process behind the winning design, Cheung-Shing explains: 'I received a letter from the Museum of Tea Ware one day, with an entry form for a teaware competition. At the time I had too much work in hand. I thought how wonderful it would be if I could just return the completed form and deemed myself as having taken part. I thought it was a simple yet interesting idea. So I squeezed time to produce this set.'
