Wolfgang Tillmans modelling for Hood by Air in New York, 2016

Wolfgang Tillmans has had a busy week!

The fine art photographer made his runway debut at NY Fashion Week and performed with his band in Brooklyn

The German fine-art photographer Wolfgang Tillmans is getting used to life on the other side of the lens. Back in May he fronted his own campaign for Britain to remain in the EU; in July Tillmans released his first record; and in August he had snippets of his work included on Frank Ocean’s new album, Blonde.

This month, he’s made his catwalk debut, modeling boots, pants and a long coat for the New York label Hood By Air’s NY fashion week show.

Fellow photographer and Phaidon author Kevin Amato used to cast Hood by Air’s shows, selecting kids from the Bronx to walk its shows. Tillmans also shot Shayne Oliver, the label’s founder, for Fantastic Man, which may account for his appearance in this week’s show.

And that wasn’t Tillmans’ only public appearance in New York this week. His band fragile also played a concert at Brooklyn’s Union Pool on Tuesday night.
