The brilliant Italian chef and author Massimo Bottura returned to New York last week, to speak at the sixth edition of the international chef’s forum Identita Golose, which is staged each year to showcase Italian culinary excellence.

It was Massimo’s birthday while he was in town, and we at Phaidon marked this with an intimate cake-based celebration at our Louis Sullivan-designed Bleecker Street offices.
