Wit, ideas and ambiguity: the world of Alan Fletcher
A walk through Fifty Years of Graphic Work (and Play), on show at CUBE
Alan Fletcher (1931-2006) was one of the most creative minds and internationally influential figures in graphic design. He was a member of the now legendary design consultancy Fletcher Forbes Gill, and a founding partner of the international design group Pentagram. From 1993 Fletcher worked as consultant Art Director to Phaidon Press. Fletcher transcended the conventional boundaries of his craft and tackled every facet of design with a unique style and purpose, and no one else inhabited the world of ideas, of wit and ambiguity in graphic design in quite the same way. Fletcher talks here about the visual and verbal delights of The Art of Looking Sideways.
