In 1977, a 37-year-old Gert Dumbar set up a small eponymous studio in The Hague and quickly began to develop an extensive portfolio of identity work for some of the most important institutions in the world. The Dutch Railways, the Dutch Police and the Danish Post (among countless others) all benefited from Dumbar's passion for design durability, his typographic craft, and friendly sense of humour. Still now the graphic designer's work is entrenched in the Netherlands' visual identity.

The great Dutchman's studio is now led by a new generation of design stars. Liza Enebeis, Karmen Kekic and Tom Dorresteijn oversee an incredibly talented team of creative types in offices in Rotterdam, Shanghai and Seoul, and continue to create brilliantly colourful and passionate work for clients of reputable standing. No doubt you've seen their work – it adorns walls around the world. If you haven't, you're in for a wonderful surprise.

Click through the slideshow above for a selection of recent designs, and visit the studio's site for much more.
