The Milan-based architect and product designer Antonio Citterio (b. 1950) is known internationally for his product designs for B&B Italia, Vitra, and Kartell. This book presents an overview of Citterio's architecture, including the interiors he designed for Esprit in the 1980s when the clothing manufacturer was one of the first to commission a younger generation of emerging architects, as well as a detailed analysis of his product designs. Included are well-known pieces such as his office chair for Vitra and his colourful plastic rolling carts for Kartell, as well as his concept for the interior of a sports car for Alfa Romeo of 2000, which was never realized.
About the author
Alberto Bassi is a historian and critic of industrial design. He teaches the history of design at the Department of Design and Arts of the IUAV in Venice. He carries out research at public and private institutions for publications and for permanent and temporary exhibitions, and has supervised the organization of many design and business archives. He has written for such magazines as Casabella and Auto & Design, and has authored the books Giuseppe Pagano designer (with L. Castagno), Le macchine volanti di Corradino D'Ascanio (with M. Mulazzani), and Italian Lighting Design 1945-2000.
